Hacker siege against Sony: stolen data on one million Internet users

The Japanese group said today in a possible attack on its digital platformSonyPictures.com movie. From mid-April, hacers groups have stolen data from morethan 100 million users of its various web services.
The Japanese group Sony said today investigating a possible new attack by hackers against SonyPictures.com movies digital platform, which could have given access to personal data of about one million users. 

A Sony spokesman confirmed that there is an ongoing research process on the new case, which occurs after groups of hackers stole data from mid-April more than 100 million users of its various web services.

The group of hackers Lulzsec U.S. claimed responsibility for the latest attack online, that would have occurred this morning, just hours after the company announced the restoration of its network of videogame PlayStation Network (PSN).

This new attack against the online service of Sony films would have allowed them access to all personal information that the company would not have encryption Japan, according Lulzsec.

The local agency Kyodo said the hackers may have stolen passwords, email addresses and birth dates of about one million users.

The attack marks a new chapter in the so-called "crusade" that started several months by some hacker groups against Japanese electronics giant.

The wave of "cyber attacks" is a new setback for Sony, which in May announced a net loss of 259,600 million yen (2,250 million euros) in fiscal year 2010, after being badly hit by the impact of the earthquake and tsunami of 11 March.
