Siemens PLM software technology enables LIG Nex1 to drive productivity improvements in product development

Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that LIG Nex1, which develops and produces a wide range of advanced precision electronic systems,  has selected Siemens PLM Software’s NX™ software, a comprehensive digital product development solution; and Teamcenter® software, the world’s most widely used digital lifecycle management solution, to drive productivity improvements in product development through enhanced collaboration and process efficiency.

LIG Nex1’s business expansion along with the ongoing increase in product complexity significantly increased the need for a robust and scalable PLM solution. Following a rigorous validation process LIG Nex1 selected Siemens PLM Software technology to support its goals. LIG Nex1deployed NX and Teamcenter to innovate its product design environment and more effectively manage process knowledge to bring the most innovative and sophisticated products to market.

Teamcenter has provided LIG Nex1 with productivity improvements across its operations and helped the company standardize many tasks. It has enabled a significant increase in collaboration throughout the value chain, resulting in the continuous capture of product development knowledge and experience, and serves as a catalyst that enables detailed inspection in each department in order to achieve project goals. From a strategic perspective, Teamcenter is playing a key role in stimulating continuous innovation and discovery. Overall, Teamcenter has helped LIG Nex1 achieve a 30 percent time and cost savings in product development enterprise-wide, and its enhanced collaboration capabilities helped accelerate the production process while at the same time reduce process errors by more than 50 percent.

In addition, NX provides LIG Nex1 the ability to manage all development aspects of mechatronics components, including mechanical and electrical computer-aided design, through a single source, which significantly adds to the overall process efficiency improvement.

“Siemens PLM Software’s technology has helped LIG Nex1 to produce the most sophisticated products in today’s market,” said Wan Ki Jeong, Senior Manager, LIG Nex1. “Teamcenter serves as the foundation for our PLM system, enabling the management of multiple MCAD and ECAD tools including NX. The seamless collaboration afforded by Teamcenter has cut the number of design errors in half compared to previous systems. This has resulted in improved productivity and product quality.”

“Siemens PLM Software is pleased that LIG Nex1 has seen strong return on its PLM investment,” said Kwon Kyung Ryul, vice president and managing director of Korea operations, Siemens PLM Software. “By providing real-time access to the most up-to-date data, Teamcenter enables enhanced collaboration and allows LIG Nex1 to make informed decisions resulting in increased productivity and reduction in costly errors.”
